Happy Day HS

Nova is a Great Pyrenees/Akbash mix.   She roamed the streets of Big Spring for a long time before our volunteers were able to capture her.  She is ready for her forever home.  She is 4 years old. Photos of all our animals waiting for forever homes can be found on our  Dogs Available For Adoption page.

We need your help with our fence project.
The dogs and cats at Happy Day Humane Society are anticipating the completion of two wind-breaking fences that will block the cold winds that rattle through their kennels.
The fence is projected to cost in upwards of $2,500 for the cost of materials and labor, Humane Society Board Trustee Ronda Doe said.
“We’ve made great improvements at Happy Day with the construction of a new facility housing inside kennels, but we continued to use dozens of outside kennels because of the pet overpopulation in Howard County,” she said. “I remember it getting so cold some winters that we would have to go out and literally break the ice in their water bowls.”
Each dog has a place inside their kennels to get away from the wind, but a fence  will make a huge difference, Happy Day Humane Society Director Jennifer Walters said.
Donations of blankets, beds and dog houses have helped tremendously but we really need this fence, particularly for the older dogs, Walters said.
“Some of the dogs have been patiently waiting for a home for more than a year and we just need to make sure they stay well until they find the perfect family.”
Happy Day Humane Society is asking the public to donate to the fence campaign.

If you have adopted from us since we opened on April 24, 2015 , please visit our new Happy Day Humane Society Alumni Page and post a photograph or your pup along with an update. We love to hear how they are doing. We rescue these sweet babies, nourish them, and then send them off to their new homes. And just like mama's miss their children, we miss them too. They always have a piece of our heart. We have adopted more than 4,000 dogs since April 2015. We could not have done it without your help. Thank you to all our friends and supporters! xox
